Amy Jones
AMY JONES fell peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on June 19th, 2009. Absent from the body…present with the Lord. ( 2 Cor. 5:8) Through our sorrow, we rejoice in our eternal hope and in the living legacy that remains behind in all of the lives that Amy has touched.
Amy’s life verse was Jeremiah 29:11, which she frequently shared in her testimony. Amy was a featured speaker and trainer for Ziglar, Inc. She also traveled throughout the United States as a speaker and emcee for Tamara and Peter Lowe’s “Get Motivated” business seminars. Amy strongly supported volunteerism which led to her receiving her local Chamber of Commerce’s Community Spirit Award. While participation in the Miss Texas Scholarship Pageant System, she was given the state-wide Quality of Life Award for her presentations in school throughout the state. She enjoyed planning, organizing, and carrying out fund raising events for local and national non-profit organizations. Always a supporter of and promoter of her alma mater, Amy served on the Board of Trustees for DBU as well as serving as president of the DBU Women’s Auxiliary Board. Amy was an award-winning ventriloquist who, along with her “sidekick” Rusty, entertained for community organizations, business conventions, and church groups. In addition to being a speaker and performer, Amy was also a writer. Her book “Twice as Much in Half the Time” was published in April 09′ by Simple Truths Publishing Company. Amy had a passion for helping others and for sharing her faith. This led her to founding ”Journey of Sisters , Faith, Hope & Grace ” with Brenda and Callie.
Amy was known for her winning smile, her positive attitude, her unconditional love of family and friends and her Faith in God. Amy’s short two and half month battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma eventually led to her preceding us with our savior, but her fight was valiant and graceful until the end. One week prior to Amy passing on, there were a few “sisters” in the hospital room with her working on our Conference and Fundraiser that we vigorously planned in less than 3 weeks. The “sisters” NOT Amy were growing tired and weary. We wanted to focus on Amy and our current situation not on the Conference and Fundraiser. Amy with a boldness in her voice despite the pain she was in and meds she was on , said “We can’t stop our planning in the middle of OUR crisis when our ministry is about ministering to women in crisis”. Wow! It took only those words to snap us back into “purpose” mode and carry out Amy’s desire to meet the needs of Women regardless of life’s ups and downs on the journey. That kind of hope, vision and tenacity from Amy will remain forever imprinted on our hearts. The memory of her passion to help others, will be the continued driving force with us on our Journey….
We miss you our precious sister;
but Rejoice at the thought of our
reunion one day in Heaven~
Love,
J.O.S.
For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord;
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a Future.
